Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Organise information for analysis
   • Clearly define objectives of analysis in accordance with organisational procedures
   • Collate situational data and prepare information in a format suitable for analysis in accordance with task requirements
2. Analyse and interpret information
   • Select reliable and suitable methods of information analysis to determine situational value
   • Examine data, comparing and evaluating information for content and situational value in accordance with task requirements and operational procedures
   • Make rational assessments of situational value that are justified and supported by evidence
   • Record analysed information in accordance with organisational procedures
3. Report outcomes
   • Report situational value assessment determination to relevant personnel in accordance with organisational procedures
   • Maintain and report information from data repositories

Performance Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria on at least one occasion and include: analysing data and interpreting information including: applying critical analysis techniques applying relevant organisational policies and procedures assessing the situational value of information communicating effectively with relevant stakeholders identifying, interpreting and analysing risk assessment requirements relevant to situational value maintaining records, information and repositories organising information/data for analysis reporting information and outcomes appropriate to the situation.

Knowledge Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria and include knowledge of: Defence electronic warfare and signals intelligence field context methods of information analysis including: association matrices collaborative analysis critical analysis techniques historical analysis link analysis qualitative analysis quantitative analysis trend analysis relevant organisational policies and procedures relevant reporting protocols and requirements situational value of information.
